Welcome to the San Ysidro School District! As Superintendent, I am proud to share our website to give you important information and a brief snapshot of the San Ysidro School District. Our district is located along the U.S. Mexico border. There are seven schools serving a predominantly Latino population with about 5,000 students in Pre-School and Kindergarten through eighth grade.

Our District is now engaged in a number of activities to raise student achievement, improve student health and wellness, increase the professional skills and knowledge of staff, improve and create facilities that support student learning, increase the use of technology for instruction, develop meaningful partnerships with parents, and manage finances to support the need for instructional and other material resources.

Over the last two years, we have adopted new materials in major subject areas including language arts, English language development, science, and social studies. All of the District's teachers and staff have participated in intensive trainings to improve instructional expertise and improve student achievement.

The San Ysidro School District continues to grow. You can see on our website that the District, aside from totally reconstructing Willow School, will also be breaking ground as soon as January 2010 for a new school, Vista Del Mar, in the Ocean View Hills area. In addition to our K-8 programs, the San Ysidro School District is also well known for its excellent Preschool programs that include support from the First 5 Commission.

As you explore this website, you will see that it was developed with several purposes in mind. First, we want to give those of you outside the San Ysidro School District an opportunity to learn more about the District and who we are. Second, we want to provide our staff and parents a place where valuable information can be accessed. We believe this website fulfills these two purposes well and is consistent with the District's Mission which is:

"To provide an educational environment in which all students succeed."
