Thirty six 3rd – 6th grade students participated in the District Spelling Bee on February 28, 2013. Students were the top spellers at their school site spelling bees, so the competition was rigorous at each grade level. Pictured here are the SUPER SPELLERS of San Ysidro School District. They will be honored at the March Governing Board Meeting.

Janet Hughes and Lianne Loomis received a $5,000 NEA Grant for their project California History Comes Alive. As a result, 46 4th grade students participated in six living history programs. There were 3 “history in a trunk” presentations, a train ride and visit to Mission San Juan Capistrano, a tour of Old Town San Diego and an overnight trip on the Star of India.
